Eagle, WI 53119
262-594-6200
Hours: 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. daily

Be sure to visit the museum at the forest headquarters. The Southern Unit is the second largest of four Kettle Moraine Units, covering 20,300 acres stretching through three counties; Waukesha, Jefferson and Walworth. It is over 35 Miles long, about 1 mile in width, with a relief of 100 to 300 feet.

Established in 1936, the theme of the Kettle Moraine Southern Unit centers around the last ice age - Wisconsin Glacier and the glacial landforms created 10,000 years ago. It is accurately described as a collection of hills, ridges and depressions. One of the best known features are the kettle holes which inspired the name. Occasionally ponds developed in the deeper kettle holes.

The Kettle Moraine offers camping (including a cabin for disabled visitors), swimming, boating, nature, hiking, biking, cross country skiing, horse and snowmobile trails, hunting, and a scenic drive.  Guided nature hikes and evening programs are offered. Check at the headquarters for details.
